Spider Reports

As October comes to an end...so does our spider unit! The students worked very hard this week on their spider reports. Each group chose a spider to research and spent the week finding information about their spider using books and the computers. Good job grade 1/2's!

Spiders, Spiders, Everywhere!

We are finished our spider unit! For the next week the students will be researching and writing a mini report on a spider of their choice! The grade 1's are very excited as this is their first BIG writing task!

This week we learned about the life cycle of a spider, spider webs and we read various spider stories!

Life cycle of a spider.

We learned that their are many different types of webs!

We made spider webs out of glue and glitter!

We did a science experiment...
Why do bugs stick to spider webs, but spiders don't?
We first acted as the bugs and touched sticky tape, then we put oil on the tape! We found that the oil caused our fingers not to stick.
That is why a spider doesn't stick to it's web because it has oil on its feet!

We made spider webs out of pretzels and white chocolate! YUM!

We read ARGH Spider! Then we discussed if a spider would make a good pet, and why it would be a good pet!

It was a fun filled week in K/1/2!

Spiders

We have been busy learning about spiders the past week.

Last week we looked at the structure of a spider and the functions of a spider!

We also brainstormed what spiders can do, what spiders have, what spiders are and what spiders need!

After, we read a non-fiction story on spiders and wrote down spider facts. Then we wrote down our opinions on spiders. The students learned the difference between facts & opinions. We also made a cute vs. creepy spider graph!

Today, we finished our spider poems!
