Apple Unit

We completed our mini unit on apples. Throughout this unit we learned a variety of things!

We practiced sequencing and following directions by making apple crisp.

We learned all about Johnny Appleseed & the life cycle of an apple.

We explored our five senses and looked at a variety of apples. We also learned about data analysis and how to make a graph.

We completed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activity. The students had to pretend they were trapped on an island with nothing but apples and toothpicks. They had to construct a floating raft to help them sail home. We learned four new vocabulary words:
1. Raft: a floating platform made of materials that are fastened together.
2. Buoyant: Able to float or rise in a liquid.
3. Balance: Even distribution of weight.
4. Drift: To be carried slowly by a current of air or water.

Halloween Writing & Sequencing

Last week, we read a variety different fiction stories about haunted houses. Then, we used our five senses to describe how we would feel if we went into a haunted house. On Friday, we are carving pumpkins. Today, we sequenced how to carve a pumpkin and completed a "how-to" writing activity.
