Motion Mania
Throughout the month of November we are learning about Forces & Motion and Objects/Materials.This unit covers the following outcomes:
Grade 1:
1.
Outcome: OM1.1: Investigate observable characteristics and uses of natural and
constructed objects and materials in their environment. [CP, SI]
2.
Outcome: OM1.2: Examine methods of altering and combining materials to
create objects that meet student- and/or teacher-specified criteria. [SI, TPS]
Grade 2:1. Outcome: MP2.1: Analyze methods of determining the position of objects relative to other objects. [SI]

Forces & Motion
Throughout the months of April/May we learned about Forces & Motion in Science. This unit covered the following outcomes:
1. Outcome: MP2.1: Analyze methods of determining the position of objects relative to other objects. [SI]
1. Outcome: MP2.1: Analyze methods of determining the position of objects relative to other objects. [SI]
2. Outcome: MP2.2: Investigate factors, including friction, which affect the motion of natural and constructed objects, including self. [SI]
Throughout this unit we completed a science investigation journal and we did a variety of experiments, such as, we created different ramps, we used different materials to create friction, and we looked at forces & motion on our play structure. To complete the unit we did a variety of motion missions with spinning tops, marbles, bubbles, pinwheels, race cars and bouncy balls.
