In math the students have been working on addition + subtraction to 12/18. This week we focused on making addition and subtraction sentences. The students came up with addition/subtraction sentence skits that they presented to the class. One group pretended that they had 10 piles of hay. 5 piles were spun into gold by the "millers daughter," in Rumplestiltskin. How many piles of hay were left over? The class then had to figure out if it was an addition or subtraction sentence. From there they figured out the answer.
