STEM

Today we completed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activity. Today the students had to pretend they were trapped on an island with nothing but apples and toothpicks. They had to construct a floating raft to help them sail home. We learned four new vocabulary words:
1. Raft: a floating platform made of materials that are fastened together.
2. Buoyant: Able to float or rise in a liquid.
3. Balance: Even distribution of weight.
4. Drift: To be carried slowly by a current of air or water.
