Safety

This week we started our safety unit! Throughout this unit we will be learning about traffic/street safety, playground safety, bike safety, internet safety, stranger danger, fire safety and emergencies.

On Monday, we read "Watch Out At Home!" Then, we sorted pictures into the categories, safe and unsafe.

On Tuesday, we learned about traffic safety. First, we watched a brain pop video on safety signs. Then we discussed why signs are important and how they keep us safe. After, we played red light, green light!

On Wednesday, we went for a walk around town. We practiced walking on the correct side of the street, and looking both ways before crossing. We also found many different signs such as, stop signs, yield signs, no parking signs and school zone signs.

On Thursday, we learned about playground safety. First we read, "Playground Safety," by Peggy Pancella. Then, we came up with a list of tips to help us stay safe on the play ground.
1. Never play alone at a playground. Go with an adult or a group of friends.
2. Make sure that the playground is clean and the equipment is safe.
3. Do not take chances or show off. Use the playground equipment properly.
4. Take turns, share the equipment, and play fairly.
5. If you have a problem, tell an adult you trust about it.

After, we drew a picture of our dream playground. Here are some of our creations!
