First Week Of School!

We had a wonderful first week back to school! Throughout the week we established our classroom routines and procedures. We went over the five golden rules which are...
1. Listen when someone is talking.
2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
3. Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
4. Take care of our school and classroom.
5. Work & play safely and quietly.
Each morning we review these rules...then every very Monday we create a classroom goal that we work on throughout the week. If everyone follows the rules and if we reach our goal then we add a "brownie point" to our pan. If we fill up the pan we get prize! If we fill the pan up 3x then we get a big prize such as a pizza party!

On the first day of school we read "First Day Jitters," by Julie Danneberg. Then we graphed our first day feelings. Luckily most of the students were excited for the first day!

We also wrote about why we are glad to be in grade 2!

On the third day of school we did a fun activity called "Saving Sam." The object of this activity was for students to try and save Sam. Sam (the gummy worm) was stuck on a raft in the middle of the ocean without a life jacket! In order to make it back to shore he had to figure out a way to put on his jacket that was trapped underneath the raft. The students had to use paper clips to try and get Sam to his life jacket. They were not allowed to use their hands and Sam couldn't fall into the ocean (desk).

On Friday, September 4th, we discussed what everyone in the class was an "expert" at...that way if we need help with anything in or outside of school we know who to ask!

On Friday, we also played Buddy Bingo. We had Bingo cards that had specific questions. We had to go around the room to find someone who could answer our question.

We had a great first week back! Please let me know if you have any questions.
