Author Study: Robert Munsch

This week we started our Robert Munsch author study!

On Monday, we learned a little bit about Robert Munsch and why he decided to become an author. We also learned different literacy devices that Robert Munsch uses in his stories such as, alliteration, repetition, onomatopoeia and personification. Throughout this unit we will be reading several Robert Munsch stories and students will have to figure out what literacy devices are used in each story.

The first story we read was, PIGS! We noticed that Robert Munsch used personification, repetition and onomatopoeia in this story. We also noticed that Robert Munsch used alot of exclamation marks in this story, which means we have to read with expression! (Just like Eel the Expressionist, from our Critter Cafe).

After, " Spike the Summarizer," helped us figure out the beginning, middle and end of the story.
