Butterfly Life Cycle

All of our caterpillars formed their chrysalides this week!  

Day 7: Some of the caterpillars began to form their chrysalis. It takes 2 days for their chrysalis to be strong...during this time they are very delicate! 

Day 8: Most of the caterpillars have formed their chrysalis. 

Day 8: We observed that during metamorphosis, caterpillars molt their skin!  You can see this in the picture below! We were lucky enough to be able to watch some of the caterpillars morph into their chrysalides. It looked like they were dancing!   

Day 9-10: Some of the chrysalides were strong enough to be moved into the flight cage! In 7-10 days we should have butterflies!
