Mini Colour Unit

Throughout the past few weeks we have read:
1. The Crayon Box That Talked
2. The Day The Crayons Quit
3. The Day The Crayons Came Home

Throughout this mini unit we have been focusing on colour words, primary/secondary colours, All About Me, & Feelings.

After reading these stories we discussed how we each have unique qualities that bring us together as a class. We explored the theme of our identity and diversity. We also explored data analysis through graphing our favorite colours. On September 15th each student brought an All About Me Bag and shared their favorite things with the class.

Pumpkin Expressions

In art, we made pumpkin expressions! We used the elements of art (line, colour & shape) to create pumpkins. Each student chose a different expression to use on their pumpkin. Some students did scary expressions while others did happy expressions. They turned out great!

Elements of Art

Today we learned about secondary colours. We learned that the primary colours (blue, yellow, red) make secondary colours (purple, green & orange). There are also different shades of secondary colours. For example, when you make orange if you add more red to the yellow then you will have a dark orange...if you mix more yellow to the red you will have a light orange.
