Welcome
parents & guardians to our classroom blog! I hope everyone had a wonderful
summer! I have decided to create a classroom blog as I believe it is a
fun way for you to see what your child is doing at school! Our classroom blog
will be updated weekly containing information on what is happening in the
classroom. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or feedback feel free
to contact me at the school. I have also created a classroom twitter page that
the class will be updating on a regular basis! I look forward to a
great year!

Student Blogs
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful break. A new year=new and exciting things in grade 1 & 2. While students are rotating through Daily Five centers, I will be working with students in small groups on reading and blogging. This week the students will begin customizing and posting on their blogs. Students will post work that they are proud of and want to share with the world! Not only will they be creating their own blogs, they will also be commenting and reading their classmates' blogs. I invite you to comment on your child's posts as it will motivate them to put effort into all of their work.
Student blogs are beneficial for a variety of reasons:
1. Parent communication--Parents are able to see what their child is doing in school. Parents are also able to comment on their child's posts. This motivates students to work harder and put effort into their projects.
2. Builds confidence--Students post work they are proud of.
3. Cross curricular--Students will not only be creating their own blog, they will also be reading and writing comments on their friends' blogs. Blogging also allows students to have exposure to modern day technology.
4. Assessment--Since students will be posting weekly, I will be able to see how their writing progresses throughout the year.
5. Choice--Students are in charge of what they post which leads to instant engagement and enables them to think deeper.
